Overview: With building materials sourced locally throughout Victoria, the Multi-Faith Prayer Room at the MCG was designed and built in collaboration with various religious groups and endorses this iconic venue’s commitment to display community leadership by providing facilities that promotes inclusiveness. This purpose built space includes a foyer area, two prayer rooms and amenities requiring complex cultural requirements. ONE68 proudly completed the interior fitout and building works for this community project in Round 1 of the 2022 AFL Premiership Season. The new Multi-Faith Prayer Room located on Level B1 of the Great Southern Stand, replaced a smaller dedicated space previously situated in the Ponsford Stand. The facility’s design elements reflect the unique and iconic foundations of the MCG. Specifically, the Prayer Room’s roof design is representative of the stepped underside of the stadium’s seating bowl, while the intricate carpet design is reminiscent of the hallowed turf of the Mighty ‘G.
